TC Williams came out in the 1st half of their Group AAA State Semifinal game against L.C. Bird on fire. They started the game on an 8-0 run on their way to a 32-24 halftime advantage. However their cold shooting as well as LC Bird starting to convert at the charity stripe led to a 60-54 OT victory by Bird. After TC's initial 8-0 run they didn't relinquish that lead until LC Bird's Jr. guard Harvey Freeman tied the game at 42 with 6:18 left in regulation. LC Bird didn't have their 1st lead until 2:46 mark of the 4th period. They took a 45-44 lead on a free throw by Christain Smith. A 3 pointer with 56 seconds left on the clock by sophomore Javonte Reddick gave LC Bird a 48-46 lead. Reddick then fouled Jamal Pullen with 24 seconds left in regulation. Pullen's 2 free throws tied the game at 48 and sent the game into overtime. Javonte Reddick started overtime the same way he ended regulation. Sinking a 3 pointer. That 3 gave LC Bird a lead they would not give up on their way to a 60-54 semifinal win in overtime. After the game TC Williams head coach Julian King said "We ran into a team that is as scrappy as we are but probably a little more talented offensively. They got on a roll and it was hard to mount a comeback." That statement sums it up. TC shot 44 percent from the field in the 1st half. They just couldn't maintain that touch in the second as they shot 26 percent. They have nothing to hang their head about because they did very well to make it back to the State Tournament after not being able to participate in the playoffs last year. The Titans will be back.
