Washington, DC - The 2010 Kenner League playoffs kick off next week but Saturday's game featured some great highlight from college veterans, newcomers and a pro. Georgetown's Markel Starks, Austin Freeman, and Chris Wright played magnificently as well as Maryland's P'Shon Howard.
The Tombs pulled out a 69-67 victory over Hoop Magic. Starks was very impressive as his dished several highlight assists and did a beautiful spin move to the delight on the Kenner League crowd. Starks teammate Austin Freeman has one of the most efficient games you will ever see. Freeman, always under control, took good shots, attacked the basket, and was in great position to get assists from Starks, scored 20 points and barely took over ten shots to get it.
It's worth noting that Hoop Magic point guard P'Shon Howard had a solid game. The Terrapins have a solid player in Howard who will establish himself as a class point guard in the ACC. Howard not only controlled the flow, but passed brillantly, shot well and didn't turn the ball over constantly. In the second game the DC Legends defeated the Premiere Athletics 55-53. Georgetown's Chris Wright powered in over 30 points. Wright constantly attacked the basket with a very explosive first step. Despite Wright's torrid scoring, he had little help from his teammates as Premiere Athletics stayed close with solid contributions from the entire team. The Legends pulled in out in the final seconds when Premiere Athletics missed the last second shot attempt. In the last game of the day, Awash and Associates took down Team Madness 90-71. Awash's Brian Chase Vtech), Tony Skinn (Mason), and Donte Green (SKings) were just too much for Team Madness to handle. Donte Green turned the last five minutes of the game into a dunkfest and concluded his show a beautiful windmill throw in the last minute. The Kenner League playoff begin next week. |
