Former Eagle forward Vlad Moldoveanu '11 has reached an agreement with Italian Serie A team Benetton Treviso to play professionally in Europe.

"I am very excited to play for Benetton," commented Moldoveanu. "It is one of the most respected teams in Europe. It is a great opportunity for me to play at the highest level in Europe and I will do my best to succeed individually but more important as a team."

Moldoveanu, a native of Bucharest, Romania, joins an elite European roster, which includes former NBA player Brian Skinner. Past Benetton players include 2006 NBA first-overall draft pick Andrea Bargnani, 2011 NBA first-round draft pick Donatas Motiejunas, current Washington Wizard Cartier Martin, and NBA champion Toni Kukoc, who also led Benetton to its first championship as a franchise in 1992. The team is coached by Alexander Djordjovic, winner of the 1995 Golden Badge for best Yugoslavian athlete and member of the 1996 Yugoslavian Olympic silver medal team.

Moldoveanu graduated from American this year after playing two seasons for the Eagles. He earned All-Patriot League First Team honors in both 2010 and 2011, and finished with 19.4 ppg and 6.5 rpg in 52 career games at AU. Moldoveanu finished his career at American with 1,012 career points, becoming the 28th Eagle to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
