Nuzzo, Tippett and Raff Complete Women's Basketball Staff for the 2011-12 Season Interim head coach Jon Waters adds three to CNU WBB Staff NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Christopher Newport University interim head coach Jon Waters announced the completion of the women's basketball staff today. Joining Waters and Chris Harper are Jen Nuzzo, Adam Tippett and Randi Raff. “I am thrilled to add three amazing people to our coaching staff,” said Waters. “All three bring tremendous energy and experiences to share with our student-athletes. Our staff and players are committed to working as hard as we possibly can to prepare for the upcoming season and will do everything possible to make the CNU community proud.”
Nuzzo, a former Woodside High school and Boo Williams standout, played at Old Dominion and was a three time All-CAA Academic All-Conference team member. After her senior year, Nuzzo was honored with the esteemed Dean Ehlers Leadership award, presented annually to the women's basketball player who “embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with her academic athletic achievement.” She started every game in her final year, averaging 6.9 points per game. She finished her MBA with a concentration in Public Administration in May of 2011.
Tippett, a 2005 CNU graduate, worked as a student assistant for C.J. Woollum for two years. He then completed his Masters in Sport & Wellness while doing a grad assistantship on the men's staff for two years at the University of South Carolina under legendary head coach Dave Odom.
Raff has been a member of the nationally ranked CNU volleyball coaching staff since the beginning of the 2010 season, and during that time the team is 60-6. Raff was recently named a Thirty under Thirty award winner by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), an honor bestowed to the top thirty volleyball coaches at any level under the age of 30. Raff returns to her basketball roots growing up in Rensellaer, Indiana and will serve as the Director of Basketball Operations. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana and has a Masters Degree in Health and Kinesiology from Purdue. |
