WASHINGTON – Senior center Henry Sims (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) scored a career-high 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and had five assists, while junior forward Hollis Thompson (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola) chipped in 13 points, four rebounds and four assists as eight different players scored at least one point, leading the Georgetown men’s basketball team to an 83-54 win over Savannah State in the season opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Verizon Center. The Hoyas are now 1-0 overall, while Savannah State is 0-1.

Hoyas selected fifth in BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll

 

NEW YORK – For the second-consecutive year, junior shooting guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team at the conference's annual women's basketball media day held at B.B. King Blue Club & Grill in Times Square on Thursday. Additionally, the Hoyas were picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll receiving 175 points.

SHANGHAI – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team spent its first full day in Shanghai on Saturday afternoon, visiting the Bund and then spending time at Nike’s Festival of Sport on a warm and sunny day.
