LYNCHBURG, Va. – Following a record-breaking season, Kevin Fogg has been honored by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) as the website’s 2011 FCS Elite Kickoff Returner Award winner. This honor closes out a highly successful postseason award run for the return specialist. Fogg was previously named a first-team All-American by the Sports Network, College Sporting News and Walter Camp Foundation. Additionally, Fogg was a second-team selection on the Phil Steele Postseason All-America listing and he was named to the ECAC All-Star squad. Fogg led all FCS players in the country in average yards per kickoff return (33.52), finishing more than two yards per return ahead of No. 2 A.J. Cruz of Brown (31.15). Fogg set a program record and was one of two Division I football players in the country (both FCS and FBS) to finish the 2011 season with three kickoff returns for a touchdown (New Mexico State’s Taveon Rogers also finished with three returns for a touchdown). In addition to his special teams efforts, Fogg also had his most productive season as a member of Liberty’s defensive backfield. The cornerback finished the year with a career-best 45 tackles (33 solo, 12 assisted), while adding four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Fogg tied with Walt Aikens for the team lead in interceptions, with each defensive back posting three interceptions in 2011. As a team, Liberty finished the year with 12 interceptions, which ranked No. 45 nationally in the statistical category. |
