SHEPHERD ADDS FOUR TO ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME PDF Print E-mail

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University Athletic Hall of Fame will induct four new members this fall at the annual induction banquet on Friday, November 9 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Shepherdstown. Football standout Joe Reel ’72, Vic Holmes ’74 (men’s basketball, baseball), Greg Stup ’96 (football), join women’s basketball coach Jodie Runner as the 27th class to be inducted. The "fabulous four" bring the total number of members in the Shepherd Athletic Hall of Fame to 129.

FOURTEEN RAMS NAMED TO WVIAC COMMISSIONER'S HONOR ROLL

PRINCETON, W. Va. – Fourteen Shepherd University student-athletes have been selected to the 2011-12 WVIAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Qualifying student-athletes are classified as a junior or senior and have obtained a 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale at the end of the term of attendance in which the sport was concluded.

PRINCETON, W.Va. – Five members of the Shepherd University softball team have been named to the 2012 WVIAC All-Conference team. Junior pitcher Tricia Bettura (Canfield, OH/Canfield) gained first team honors, junior pitcher Tiffany Biggs (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson/Potomac State) and freshman outfielder Tayler Schaefer (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) were second team selections, while junior outfielder Bianca Biondillo (Canfield, OH/Canfield) and sophomore first baseman Sam McQuade (McConnellsburg, PA/McConnellsburg) earned honorable mention accolades.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior pitcher Tiffany Biggs (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson/Potomac State) tossed a complete game shutout in the nightcap to lead Shepherd University to a 4-0 win over Seton Hill in WVIAC softball doubleheader action at Shepherd on Friday. The Griffins rallied for a 2-1 win in game one.

VIENNA, W.Va. – Shepherd University was eliminated at the WVIAC Softball Tournament in Vienna on Thursday. The Rams dropped a 7-5 game to Fairmont State in an early game and later fell in a 3-0 decision to Ohio Valley.
