Ogden Earns Individual Title as Tigers Claim 10th Team Championship

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Led by graduate student Katie Ogden (Northern H.S./Owings, Md.), Towson University took four of the top eight spots to claim the women’s team title at the 29th annual Baltimore Metro Meet held at McDaniel College on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers, who won their 10th Baltimore Metro Meet title, finished with 29 points while Johns Hopkins, which had won the last three team championships, was second with 30 points. Goucher followed in third place with 91 points.

“Katie Ogden was fantastic today,” Towson Coach Roger Erricker said. “She’s an all-conference performer and we have high expectations for her.

“Johns Hopkins ran a heck of a race,” Erricker added. “Going forward, it’s going to give us some momentum because we’ve got some really tough races ahead.”

While Ogden led the Tigers with a time of 19:15.10, freshman Elizabeth Tauber (John Carroll School/Bel Air, Md.) had an impressive collegiate debut by finishing second with a time of 19:23.33.

“Elizabeth came through big for us and as a freshman, she was not intimidated,” Erricker said.

Senior Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue (White Plains H.S./White Plains, N.Y.) earned fifth place for the Tigers (19:40.10) while freshman Kara Bucaro (Weston H.S./Weston, Conn.) took eighth place by completing the race in 19 minutes, 48.10 seconds.

Freshman Hannah Eckstein (Red Bank Catholic H.S./Middletown, N.J.) led the Blue Jays with a third place finish. She completed the course in a time of 19:26.41.

In the men’s race, Johns Hopkins ran away with the team title by recording the meet’s top 17 finishers. Sophomore Max Robinson (Rye H.S./Rye, N.Y.) won the individual championship with a time of 16:33.69.

The Tigers will be idle until September 17 when they compete at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
