Swimming: WVU Women Fall in Final Meet PDF Print E-mail

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 27, 2012) – The WVU women’s swimming and diving team took on Ohio in its final meet of the season Friday, Jan 27. The Mountaineers fell to the Bobcats 178.5-119.5.

Rachael Burnett led the women with three first-place finishes in the 100 free (52.26), the 200 free (1:50.31) and the 500 free (4:54.18). Mandie Nugent took first in the 100 fly (57.03) and the 200 fly (2:01.20).

Julie Ogden finished second in the 100 fly (57.74) and 200 fly (2:07.24).

Kata Fodor added points for the Mountaineers with a second place in the 1,000 free (10:09.37) and a third place in the 500 free (5:00.76).

Breanna McCann tied for second in the 200 IM with a time of2:07.19, and also finished second in the 200 breast (2:23.27) and third in the 200 free (2:05.03). Jenelle Zee finished second in the 100 breast (1:06.15) and Danielle Smith finished second in the 200 free (2:05.03).

The women finished strong with the team of Burnett, Nugent, Smith and Fodor taking first in the 400 free relay.
