MARION, Ill. – VMI alumnus Graham Sullivan ’11 has signed a free agent contract with the Southern Illinois Miners of the independent Frontier League, according to information made available Monday. Sullivan, who left VMI ranked in the program’s career top-10 in batting average, doubles and total bases, was signed after a brief stay in the California Winter League. The CWL is a winter league developed to aid players in their quest to get signed by a professional team, and Sullivan inked a deal with the Miners after going 6 for 14 in his five-game stay in that league. He will join a team that was 58-38 in 2011, and finished second in its division in the Frontier League. “I am so excited for Graham,” said VMI head coach Marlin Ikenberry. “In all my years of coaching, he is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached, and he deserves this opportunity. I know he will make the most of it.” |
