Harrisonburg, Va. (2/2/11) - Every time James Madison made a run at the William and Mary men’s basketball team, it responded with grit and maturity on the way to a 73-67 road victory over the Dukes on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center. The Tribe never trailed in the contest in knocking off a team that entered the game with a RPI of 66 nationally, having only suffered one loss at home this season. W&M improved to 7-16 overall and 3-9 in CAA play, while the Dukes fell to 17-7 on the year and 7-5 in the conference standings. Junior forward Quinn McDowell led all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line to go along with eight rebounds. The freshman backcourt of Julian Boatner and Brandon Britt finished with 15 and 10 points respectively. Boatner, who earlier this season set a Tribe freshman record with six 3-pointers, became the first player in W&M history to go a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range in a single game. Senior forward Marcus Kitts held his own on the low block with nine points, eight rebounds a three blocked shots.
