“The Only Thing Was Missing Were Sticks”

The birthday boy, all-star F Caron Butler (28), returned to the line-up yesterday after missing 17 straight games-20 overall- due to a left hip injury.  Butler put on a first half show with a variety of moves, but down the stretch, G Deshawn Stevenson provided the defense the Wizards needed to hold off the angry Cleveland Cavaliers-101-99.

2008 College National Player of the Year: Beasley or Hansbrough?

Time for the backlash.  I know people will say are you crazy?!!  Beasley is a beast and is a far better individual talent.  People say Hansbrough is overrated.  I want to say I totally understand.  Listen I saw Beasley up close and yes from a pure basketball talent perspective, he is better.  The key is most college players who play against North Carolina know Hansbrough's limitations but night in and night out he dominates his way to double doubles over and over.

The 2002 national champions are in danger of missing the dance if they don't redeem themselves in the ACC Tournament.  Besides the usual suspects Duke and North Carolina, it's not like the competition is an excuse to weasel in this year.

Eye of the Storm: Reflections of Georgetown/Louisville

This installment of The Eye of The Storm has some of my thoughts and observations throughout the Louisville vs. Georgetown game.

The atmosphere at the Verizon Center was electric. The confluence of the final game of the regular season, senior day and the Big East regular season championship on the line created an almost hollywood type of atmosphere. This, is the best college basketball can offer. A conference game at the end of the season between the 1 and 2 teams in the conference playing for the regular season title.

Eye Of The Storm: Louisville vs. Georgetown

Louisville vs. Georgetown this Saturday could be one of the most exciting games of the college basketball season. The Hoyas will need to execute their gameplan and play great defense in order to slow down a running Louisville team. DCMetrosports will join close to 16,000 others in the phonebooth to witness the game in person.
