DCMS Blog: Can the Patriots finish the job?
Written by Wendall Stevens
Sunday, 30 December 2007

In a continuing debate on whether the Patriots can finish the job, I see only the Indianapolis Colts as a major roadblock.  The Patriots will be in Foxboro in January but don't sleep on the Colts.  Peyton Manning and company are the champions until they get knocked out.  The Colts are solid on defense this year and safety Bob Sanders at only 5'8" is a beast.   Antoine Bethea (Howard U.) is a major player back in the secondary. It's not going to be a cakewalk I can tell you that.  Jacksonville is no joke.  They pound you with the running game and they're solid on D.

Two days before the beginning of the new year and I'm really looking forward to the local DC prep basketball scene.  I will be posting a Top 20 list next week of high school players to watch out for.  I understand the sophomore 2010 class is loaded.  My guy Van Johnson at Gameplan Sports is giving me a heads up on who's who.

DCMS Blog: Gettin ready for the new year.

It's a little less than 3 days before the new year. The ending of each year brings both anxiety and hope.  Economic indicators point to a mild recession, boy that's heartwarming. I read today that average Americans don't rate Iraq as a high concern anymore. It's the pocketbook, always the pocketbook.  The mortgage crisis is a mess but anytime you make $50,000 and someone shows you how to buy an $600,000 house, shouldn't you be at least cautious or wary? Instant gratification.  It's the American way. That's enough of that. Time for sports talk.

NFL Playoff Notes Continued
Written by Wendall Stevens

On a rainy Wednesday after Christmas, the NFL playoffs weigh heavily on my mind. I wonder deep down if Redskins fans are relieved of the fact that Romo and TO won't be playing this weekend at FedEx?  We need this win.  We need this playoff appearance even if we're playing an archrival that's shutting it down.  The Titans look to be a lock because Dungy will likely spell his starters. The Browns blew it and I really wanted to see them in the playoffs so I could watch Josh Cribbs.  The Titans, like the Skins should win and advance into the playoffs this Sunday.  The real question for Washington is what if Todd Collins takes the Skins past the wild card game and into the NFC Championship?  What should they do with him after the season?  Do they lock him up or use him to get more draft picks?

Redskins Deep in the Playoffs?
Written by Wendall Stevens
Monday, 24 December 2007
The Redskins have won three straight and are one win away from the playoffs.  Frustrated Skins fans have questioned Joe Gibbs's leadership but it's apparent that the players love and respect him. Fans better hope and pray Gibbs signs an extension because the team and organization need him more than ever.
