“Athletes and Officials Must Work Together To Keep Games Right”

              In the world of sports, there are two types of people that control games- athletes and officials. An athlete is the one that trains extremely hard, eats right, makes sacrifices, and studies to be successful.  An official works out just enough to stay fit, attends meetings and studies as well to be successful.  Successful preparation for a game by athletes and officials alike require good planning. The athlete controls the game by their play and an official controls the game by the calls they make, according to the rules.  There are emotional ties for both the athlete and the official hence they must show no emotion.  The athlete and official are constantly on each other’s mind.  An athlete wonders if they violated a rule and if they did, how can they get it right or continue to get away with it.  An official just wants to make the right decision.

“She’s A Man-Eater”

              Remember the term, “you play like a girl!”, as being an insult?  Well, you can stop saying it because girls can play, too.  In fact, there are women that can ball better than men.  The WNBA (Women’s National Basketball League) started yesterday and showcased lots of talented and beautiful women doing their thing.  Big time players such as Cheryl Ford of the Detroit Shock, Diana Taurasi of the world champion Phoenix Mercury, Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm, Alana Beard of the Washington Mystics, and the next big thing, Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks opened up in venues across the country.

"Eye of the Storm" OJ and the NBA Playoffs

Over the weekend we were greeted by news about another case of OJ from USC breaking rules.  This time the news was  about OJ Mayo, the standout basketball player who is expected to be a lottery pick in this summers NBA Draft. Mayo has allegedly taken $30,000 in the past 4 years, which would be a violation of NCAA rules. The person who reported this abuse,  is a former member of Mayo's inner circle.  Maybe Mayo did break the rules. At this point, I don't care. I do have a message for the Louis Johnson who released the information...STOP SNITCHING!!!!
