The Penn State Icers might have fallen short of their ultimate goal this season, winning a national championship, but Lukas Delorenzo’s season became a bit more satisfying earlier this week after he was named the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Rookie of the Year for 2005-06.

NFL Draft Reactions, Part 2 – “They
Took Who?!”
May 1 - 7, 2006
As I
continue to discuss the 2006 NFL draft in this week’s AHV, there’s a bunch of
news in the area of free-agency. Five
more members of Penn State’s Big Ten championship team were
signed to NFL rosters this week. These
latest additions to the professional ranks may offer more surprises than
expected. I also want to continue what I
think about other players taken in the draft.

Mi scusi! Mi scusi! You are Penn
State, si?"
There I
was, standing in a Roma supermarcati, comparing the pros and cons of Mulino
Blanco Galletti cookies vs. Rigoli, when I heard this woman addressing me. I had a Penn
State sweatshirt on, as I often do.
After I
replied with a tentative "si", she answered me with a chatter of
excited Italian. Since my Italian
is pretty limited, I contrived to look as confused as possible and
shrugged. She just stared back at me for
a second- she spoke next to no English.
She looked so frustrated at not being able to communicate; I offered a
few words in my better, but still limited French. After a few false starts, we figured out that
we could communicate in a smattering of English, Italian, French and hand
motions. It was the most grammatically
incorrect conversation I've ever had, but a fun one. Anyway, the conversation went something like
this. (I've paraphrased it into English
for you.)

NFL Draft Reactions, Part 1 – “They
Took Who?!”
April 24 - 30, 2006
In part one of this
week’s two-part AHV, I planned on talking just about the Penn State fella’s that were selected in the
draft, but I just can’t help getting a few things off my chest first.
