The Hokie football team held an impromptu scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon in lieu of their normal session on the practice fields behind the Jamerson Athletic Center. After the entire squad took part in conditioning drills, the starters and veterans were excused for the day. Aside from quarterbacks Sean Glennon and Tyrod Taylor, the scrimmage mostly featured freshmen and backups fighting for a role on the team as the season opener approaches.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Three touchdowns by tight end Greg Boone highlighted Virginia Tech's second intra-squad scrimmage of the preseason, a 96-play affair held on Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer announced Monday that redshirt sophomore receiver Zach Luckett has been suspended indefinitely from the football team due to a violation of team policy.
