Hibbert Leads Balanced Attack as No. 12 Georgetown Tops Providence , 68-58

Washington, D.C.  –  Senior center Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and tied his career-high with six blocked shots, three players scored in double figures and seven different players scored as No. 11 Georgetown used a balanced effort to pull away from Providence for a 68-58 win at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Rhode Island Monday afternoon.

Summers’ Career-High 24 Points Leads Georgetown Past South Florida , 63-53

Washington, D.C.  –  Sophomore forward DaJuan Summers ( Baltimore , Md. /McDonogh) scored a career-high 23 points to lead three players in double figures as No. 6 Georgetown had to overcome a sluggish first half en route to a 62-51 win over South Florida in front of 8,316 at Verizon Center .

It was the sixth-straight win for Georgetown , and the 11th in the last 12 games as the Hoyas improve to 19-2 overall and 9-1 in the BIG EAST.  South Florida falls to 10-13 overall and 1-9 in the BIG EAST as they lose their ninth-straight game.

Georgetown Junior Jessie Sapp Introduces Hometown Congressman Charles Rangel During Speech on Campus

Washington, D.C.  –  Georgetown University junior men’s basketball player Jessie Sapp ( New York , N.Y./National Christian Academy [ Md. ]) does not show many nerves when he’s on the basketball floor. 

 


For the most part, he’s calm, cool and collected.  Take, for example, this past weekend, when he hit a three-pointer with 6.2 seconds left to lift the Hoyas to a 58-57 come-from-behind win at West Virginia .  Or, the previous Monday, when he hit key shots during a late run and helped the Blue and Gray beat Syracuse , 64-62, in overtime.

Sapp’s Three-Pointer Lifts No. 9 Georgetown to Thrilling 58-57 Win at West Virginia

Washington, D.C.  –  Junior guard Jessie Sapp ( New York , N.Y./National Christian Academy [ Md. ]) pulled up with 6.2 seconds left and hit a three-pointer from the top of the key and senior forward Patrick Ewing, Jr. ( Marietta , Ga. /Hargrave Military Academy) blocked a shot at the buzzer as No. 9 Georgetown fought back from a 10-point second half deficit to post a 58-57 win over West Virginia at WVU Coliseum Saturday night.

 


It was the third-straight win for the Hoyas, who improve to 16-2 overall and 6-1 in the BIG EAST, while WVU falls to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in the league.  The Georgetown win ended a 15-game win West Virginia had in its home arena.
