With the baseball team having officially missed out on the NCAA Tournament and the track team, it seems, not sending any runners to the NCAA National Meet, it’s time to put a cap on the 2005-2006 athletic season for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
We move on to the winter sports: home of Pittsnogle, Rader, Cox, and Cinderella.

From Sugar Bowl wins to NCAA Tournament berths, this year truly was one of the greatest in Mountaineer history, so the task of picking out one great moment from each team is a daunting one, but one that’s worth shouldering.

Remembering Pittsnogle

Four years. How could four years fly by so fast? It seems like only yesterday that Kevin Pittsnogle left the trailer park in Martinsburg to arrive in Morgantown as the savior of our basketball program. Alas, Pittsnogle has left us. How one man could accomplish so much in four years is simply amazing. Pittsnogle managed to; get married, have a child, graduate college, go to two Sweet 16’s, become WVU’s all-time leader in three point field goal makes (253), climb up to sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list (1,708), and be named to the Big East First Team.


It is his honor that I have compiled a list of the top five Pittsnogle moments from his tenure at West Virginia University.
