HARRISONBURG, Va., May 16, 2009 – Sophomore shortstop David Herbek’s (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) three-run home run in the sixth propelled James Madison to a 9-6 rain-shortened victory over George Mason in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

Fairfax, VA—George Mason’s Mike Morrison ran onto the court frantically; chest bumping Dre Smith and John Vaughan at center court. Redshirt freshmen Kevin Foster, wearing his team warm up suit, ran onto the court pumping his hands in the air as the crowd at Patriot Center screamed in celebration.
The Patriots earned their second one point victory of the season of Drexel University, this time 49-48, by again fending off a potential last second game winning shot.

Fairfax, VA—George Mason Coach Jim Larranaga smiled slightly during the post game press conference Tuesday night as he began to talk about his team’s performance against the Delaware Blue Hens.
Larranaga expected his team to come out and quickly take over the game after back-to-back road losses to conference leading Northeaster and Virginia Commenwealth. The game did not start the way Larranaga expected.
“I thought to myself I don’t know this team at all,” said Larranaga of his team falling behind early.
