Lexington, VA—Reggie Williams poured in a game-high 25 points and Chavis Holmes added 24 to lead Virginia Military Institute to a 95-59 win over an undermanned Howard team in a non-conference game at Cameron Hall.

      The Keydets (4-5), who came the game ranked high in several statistical categories including scoring (97 points per game), three pointers made (14) and steals (20), did nothing to hurt those averages.

           The Bison (3-7), who suited up nine players, came out and were able to force a tie and six lead changes through the first 14-plus minutes.  Freshman Kyle Riley led the way for Howard, scoring 15 of his career-high 17 points in the first 20 minutes.

           But the high-scoring Keydets closed with a 17-7 run that over the last four minutes to take a 40-27 lead to the locker room.

  
          Williams and reserve forward Travis Holmes (11 points) led the way for VMI as they combined for 15 of the Bison’s 17 points.  Travis and Chavis are twins.

   
         Any chance of a Howard comeback was quickly dismissed in the four-plus minutes of the second half when Chavis Holmes scored 12 of his 19 second half points on four three pointers to open an insurmountable 57-31 lead.

  
          Howard aided the Keydets’ cause by committing a season-high 30 turnovers that the hosts graciously converted into 30 points.  Using its bench liberally against the injury-depleted Bison, VMI recorded 22 steals, held a 23-10 advantage on the offensive glass and made 15 three pointers.

  
          Howard’s Eugene Myatt, who poured in a career-high 41 during last year’s 116-111 shootout at Howard, finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 turnovers.

    
        The Bison have a 12-day break before resuming action against Northwestern University in Evanston, IL on December 20.
