CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Howard freshman Miguel Orellana (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends H.S.) was selected as the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Orellana tallied two first-place finishes in Howard’s meet versus American last week. He earned his first win in the 200-yard individual medley, swimming in a time of 1:58.39 which is two seconds faster then his previous best time in that event. He then went on to win the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.61. Orellana currently sits in the top sixteen in the CCSA in the 500-yard freestyle, 1000-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and the 400-yard freestyle where he is first.
This is the second time this season that Orellana has earned Swimmer of the Week honors.
Howard is off for a few weeks before returning to action on Jan. 13 in a duel meet versus Georgia Tech and George Washington.
