The Washington Wizards will host the Sacramento Kings tomorrow night (Saturday, Dec. 15th) at Verizon Center at 7:00 pm on CW50 and WTEM 980 AM.
* This game marks the first of two meetings between Washington and Sacramento this season. The Wizards and Kings will conclude their season-series on March 28th in Sacramento.
* Washington looks to extend a four-game winning streak against the Kings, a streak that includes a season-sweep in both of the two previous seasons. The Wizards last lost to Sacramento on February 27, 2005 at Verizon Center.
* The Wizards enter the game with a 12-10 record this season; a season-high two-games over .500. With a win Washington can improve to three-games above the .500 mark for the first time since they were 39-36 after 75 games last season.
* Through games played on November 9th, Washington had a 0-5 record — tied with Miami at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Since that time, the Wizards have won 12 of 17 games, and their 12-5 record since November 9th ranks second in the Eastern Conference behind only Boston’s 14-2 record over that stretch.
* Wizards forward Antawn Jamison recorded a double-double in Washington’s last eight games; a career-best streak for Jamison. Jamison scored 16 points and had 16 rebounds in his 16th double-double of the season last night in Miami. With a double-double against Sacramento, Jamison will become the first Washington player since Chris Webber (March 20 - April 6, 1997) with a double-double in nine straight games.
* Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood each recorded a double-double in both of Washington’s last two games. Interestingly, the last NBA trio to all record back-to-back double-doubles was...yes, Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood, who did so on December 21 and 22, 2006. If Butler, Jamison and Haywood record at least 10-and-10 again tonight, they will become the first trio since Dallas’ Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki and Antoine Walker (12/25/03 - 12/30/03) to record double-doubles in three straight games.
* Five Wizards scored in double figures on Thursday night in Miami, marking the fifth straight game that at least five Wizards scored 10+ points. If five Wizards score at least 10 points against the Kings, it will mark the first time since December 8-20, 1995 (7 games) that at least five Washington players scored in double figures in six consecutive games.
* In Washington’s last game (W, 104-91 at MIA, 12/13)…The Wizards won their third consecutive game...Washington snapped an eight-game regular season losing streak to Miami...DeShawn Stevenson led Washington with a game-high 26 points and connected on a career-high six three-point field goals...Antawn Jamison (16 points, season-high tying 16 rebounds), Caron Butler (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Brendan Haywood (12 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded a double-double for the second consecutive game...All five Wizards starters scored in double figures for the third straight game...Washington tied a season-low with just nine turnovers.
* Last season vs. Sacramento…The Wizards swept the Kings for the second consecutive season...Antawn Jamison tallied 33 points and 13 rebounds in his lone appearance against Sacramento last season...Caron Butler averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists against the Kings...DeShawn Stevenson contributed 16.0 points per game, while Brendan Haywood chipped in with 8.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two contests.
* Wizards-Kings connections...Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan was the head coach of the Kings for the end of the 1996-97 season and for the duration of the 1997-98 NBA campaign...Jordan compiled a record of 33-54 during his tenure as the floor boss of the Kings...Jordan was an assistant with Sacramento for five seasons before becoming Head Coach...Darius Songaila averaged 6.1 points per game over 154 regular season games with the Kings in two seasons from 2003-05.
