DCMS Blog: New Years Day Thoughts
Tuesday, 01 January 2008

After attending watchnight service at church to bring in the new year I awakened with a renewed spirit and optimism for 2008.  The guys here at DCMS are looking to improve the product, expand the coverage and hopefully the general audience will help us do that.  You may start to see subtle changes during the year as we work make the experience better for local sports fans.  The evolution of DCMetrosports is a never ending process and we thank you graciously for checking in with us.

It's New Years Day and you know what that means, mo football, mo football, mo football. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the Rose Bowl which features Illinois and Southern Cal.  Just imagine, Illinois head coach Ron Zook takes over a dormant program, recruits a few blue-chippers and bam! Instant Rose Bowl.   Any questions on how to build a program?  Dunbar standout defensive tackle Reggie Ellis has verbally committed to Illinois so the pipeline to DC is still flowing with talent.

I also understand Illinois offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, instrumental in recruiting players like Vontae Davis, is being considered for head coaching jobs.  No question that to build a great college program you have to be able to develop relationships on the high school level and build a recruiting pipeline.  Look for some interesting pieces from me this month in regards to recruiting as we head into national signing day.  I will post a couple articles, local signings, and blog entries on the local and national level.

Any tidbits on local high school signings please e-mail me. Wen.
