DCMS Blog: Hatin on the college tidy bowl system.
Wednesday, 02 January 2008

If there is ever a case for a college Super Bowl yesterday was the case.  The entire bowl thing is lame and tired.  USC should have been in a four team playoff at least.  It's relatively easy to match the top four teams.  After yesterday don't you think USC should have the chance to play for a national title?  I read an article that most schools don't make any money with these rinky dink tidy bowls anyway. Heck, some of the players don't even make to the games for one reason or another.   These tidy bowl games are just like basketball's NIT. Who really cares?  Everyone knows the issue is money.  No one wants to be left out and no one wants to

break tradition.  I say you can still have the tidy bowls.  I'm saying why wouldn't a four team playoff work?  It would definitely make the college season more interesting and the ratings would soar.   I just hate when no one has the courage to challenge the system and change something for the best.

The NCAA has a gooood business.  They don't have a player payroll and control a very profitable multi-billion dollar business enterprise.  I hope in my lifetime there is a four team playoff system and a true college Super Bowl.

By the way, that kid Vontae Davis for Illinois is nice isn't he? You see him run down Southern Cal's Joe McKnight yesterday?  Vontae could come out next year and be a first round draft pick. Arrelious Benn can come out in two more years.  Illinois should be ranked in the top 10 pre-season rankings next year.  I can't wait to see them next year.
