Cavalier Golfers Open Spring Schedule at Florida State

12-Team Field Competes March 2-4

­ The Virginia men¹s golf team opens the spring portion
of its 2007-08 schedule this weekend at Florida State's Seminole Intercollegiate.
 
The 54-hole tournament runs March 2-4 at the par-72,
6,965-yard Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee. The field for this
year¹s event includes UAB, No. 12 Auburn, Charleston, LSU, No. 24
Louisville, Maryland, No. 20 Mississippi State, North Carolina,
Mississippi and Vanderbilt. The host Seminoles are ranked No. 11 in the latest
Golfweek standings.

The Seminole Classic is the first of six events this spring for UVa.
The Cavaliers travel to Puerto Rico for the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate March 10-22, compete in the National Invitational in Tucson March 23-25,
travel to the Marriott Intercollegiate in Raleigh April 11-13, participate in the
ACC Championships April 18-20 in New London, N.C. and then host the
Cavalier Classic April 26-27 at UVa¹s Birdwood Golf Course.

The Cavalier lineup for the Seminole Classic will include junior Conrad
Von Borsig, freshman Will Collins, sophomores Kyle Stough and Steven Rojas and senior Greg Carlin. Freshman Amory Davis will compete as an individual. Carlin led Virginia in the fall with a 73.75 stroke average, including a runner-up finish at Notre Dame¹s Gridiron Classic.

Last season Virginia placed sixth in the 15-team field at the Seminole
Classic with a score of 16-over 880. Stough led UVa with a 3-over 219
to tie for 10th overall. Von Borsig was 20th at 221. Auburn took top honors at 865 and East Tennessee¹s Rhys Davies took medalist honors at 6-under 210.
