Another sellout crowd and the emotions were high. I did my usual, ate, read my notes, the team’s notes, got some gum, and prayed I would not make a fool of myself.
I saw Etan Thomas and looked good, health wise, and was in good spirit. That’s a big dude by the way.
Walking up the steps is strange and the only thing I could think of was not tripping. Got to my seat, start watching the game and the fans. It’s always a great atmosphere among the fans and behind the scenes.
There are always people I see and they look familiar, but I don’t say anything. The key is not to get embarrass, remember that. When the Wizards was down with less than a minute to go, half the arena rolled out. Then, Jamison closed the gap and then someone said, ”those muthaf##*^ are coming back”. And everybody came back and that was funny.
After the win, I knew the Clippers were pissed, especially Cuttino. I wasn’t sure to talk to him or not. His knee and thigh was wrapped in ice, so I went talk to Elton Bland and he was cool. I asked him about his recovery and he said he was coming along fine. I gave him one of my business cards and left to approach Cuttino. Cuttino was still pissed over the lost and fouling out of the game. So, I asked him some non-basketball questions to take his mind from the game, he was cool with that and I gave him a business card.
I walked to the Wizards locker room and saw DeShawn chillin’ in the corner. He said, “what’s up, man” with a big smile. That what a win can do for you. Yeah, I spoke back, he’s the man. I went into the locker room and mostly everybody gone, except Jamison and Daniels. Jamison had on his rockstar gear and Daniels, as always, rockin’ a suit.
These guys are professionals, but down to earth. That is the reason I like these guys.
