A team with three all-star players, it seems to be no room for another star.But there’s a star, 20 points-a-night player waiting to happen in the Washington Wizards’ mist.Rookie Guard Nick Young, a first-round draft pick (16th overall) from USC, have shown Wizards’ fans lately on a consistence bases what he can be.
Young is not shy with the ball.Young looks to score every time he has the ball and most of the time he can.Young can create for himself- it’s important in this league-, take anyone off the dribble and has a decent jump shot.
Throughout the season, Young’s confidence has grown.Coming into last night’s game, Young has been averaging double figures off the bench, including a career-high 22 points against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 11th.What matter the most for Young are his teammates.“ Caron (Butler), Gil (Gilbert Arenas) and the guys always tell me to play my game,” Young said.Brendan Haywood calls Young a practice dunker, in translation, “Man, you need to do that in the game”.Young is doing all he can on this injury riddle team and the Wizards need that going into the playoffs.Caron Butler is back and Gilbert Arenas is on his way.Young was asked about his NBA experience.“It’s been everything and more than I expected.All the traveling, playing against great players and teams night-in and night-out. . . . it's been all I dreamed of,” said Young.
With scoring threats from the non-starters, Roger Mason, Jr, Darius Songaila and Andray Blatche, Young could help to be that extra push the Wizards need to advance in the playoffs.At times, Young can play a little out of control and like most players in this league, be a little more committed on the defensive end.Young gets his share of cheers at the Verizon Center and soon, all around the league.The future looks bright for Young and the fans in Washington are glad he is here.
