DCMS Blog: Thoughts on Mike Beasley and the Scottie Reynolds.

I was watching the Kansas State - Wisconsin game yesterday and couldn't but notice how much Mike Beasley wanted that game.   In the first half, Beasley was dominant and virtually unstoppable but the problem was evident.  The Wildcats didn't have a decent point guard to control the flow of the game and another scorer to complement Beasley and Walker.  On the other hand, Wisconsin guard Travon Hughes lit the Wildcats up.
The Wisconsin coaching staff adjusted and limited Beasley in the second half. It's got to be tough for a coach to coach a player of Beasley's caliber and have him for only one year. I was really pleased to see that Beasley wanted to win.  From the beginning of the season, I thought he just wanted to bid his time until the NBA draft in June.  I don't think he has nothing to prove in college however, and I expect him to turn pro.  I hope he's mature enough to handle the money and responsibilites that come along with it.  It takes more than sheer ability to make it in the NBA.

I did a piece on rising stars in the NCAA tournament and forgot to mention Scottie Reynolds.  Scottie Reynolds is beginning to rise to stardom in the college game.  Reynolds is listed at 6'0 but he maybe only 5' 10".  Despite his size, he is quick, has a high basketball IQ, can create off the dribble, shoot, and hit free throws.   Guards dictate the college game and big men dominate it.   Scottie Reynolds and teamate Corey Fisher played extremely well in their first round victory and could make it the Great Eight.

I hear the Hoyas as cautious about meeting Davidson and they should.  Davidson's Stephon Curry reminds me of a young Reggie Miller is body type and shooting ability.

Don't forget to check back for "Hurricane" Forest Godwin's "The Eye of the Storm"

Secondly check out Barry 2B Barnes's weekly blog entry on DCMS as well.
