The NBA is relavant again

In the month of April of a normal year, fans and the media alike would be turning full attention to the upcoming NFL Draft and shun the NBA until the second round of the playoffs.  This year is different.

The NBA is on a resurgence.  This is the most exciting NBA season since the Jordan/Pippen years with the Bulls.  What's happening in the Western Conference is good stuff, huh?  We will probably see a case whereby a 50 win team will miss the post season. Incredible.

While the Western Conference is loaded from top to bottom from superstar point guards in Deron Williams, Allen Iverson, Chris Paul, Baron Davis, Steve Nash, & Jason Kidd to quality big men in Shaq, Stoudimire, Duncan, and Yao when healthy.   Slowly but surely before our eyes the NBA is becoming a quality product.

The Eastern Conference, while not a good as it's neighbors in the west, is no slouch.  Sure the #8 seed in the east will probably have a losing record but Boston, with 60 wins, Detroit,Cleveland, Washington, and Philadelphia (who beat Boston this year) are not chopped liver. The east is better this year overall than last and look for the conference to improve as a whole next year.

Since when have you seen the NBA dominating the sports headlines this time of year? In years past it was big gap between the NCAA basketball championships and the NFL Draft.

The quality of play in the NBA is catching up to it's marketing prowess.
