NATIONALS RECALL PITCHER CHRIS SCHRODER, OPTION PITCHER MIKE O’CONNOR

Following today’s game, the Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Schroder from Triple-A Columbus and optioned left-handed pitcher Mike O’Connor to Columbus . Nationals Senior Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made these announcements.

Schroder, 29, returns for his second stint with the Nationals this season, after appearing in two games [2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO] with the club between March 31 and April 16. He went 2-1 with three saves and a 1.26 ERA in 10 games with Columbus , recording 24 strikeouts and just six walks [4/1 strikeout-to-walk ratio] in 14.1 innings. Schroder has pitched in 60 games in the Majors during his three-year career with Washington , going 2-5 with a 4.36 ERA.

 

      
   O’Connor, 27, went 1-1 with a 13.00 ERA in five games (one start) with the Nationals this season. He began the season with Columbus , going 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA in four starts, before his contract was selected by the Nationals on April 24.
