Junior runs Virginia’s fourth fastest 1500m time
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Andrew Jesien took third in the men’s 1500m run at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet in Swarthmore, Pa., Tuesday evening in a time of 3:43.69, qualifying him for the NCAA regional meet.

The mark is a personal-best for the junior and is currently the fastest time that an ACC runner has recorded this season. It is also the fastest time that a Cavalier has ran since Ray Weeden ran a 3:43.65 in 1999, placing Jesien fourth on Virginia’s all-time record list.
With the finish, Jesien is among 27 Cavaliers who have already qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships, set to take place May 30-31 in Tallahassee, Fla. This weekend, Virginia will travel to the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J. Events are scheduled to begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
