On the second day of play at the BF Coliseum, potential #1 NBA Draft pick Mike Beasley made an appearance Tuesday to the many well wishers. Although the game was postponed due to rain, Mike said after the game "It feels good to be back at the Goodman. I've been coming here since I was 9 years old. I got nothing but love for this place."
The action was halted in the second game due to rain that featured HOBO versus One Way. There were sportscenter highlights galore as Sherrod Ford (Clemson) threw down some tremendous dunks early. Look for the makeup game today.
I met up with Rasheed "Sheed" Dollar of the 3rd Eye Organization and he gave me the rundown on what to expect from his team and their chances of repeating the Goodman League title.
Sheed, tell us what we can expect this year at the famed Goodman this summer?
"Well as you know, the first game of the summer kicks off with a rematch of last year's championship game and fortunately we came out victorious. In regards to the league, they're have been a few shakeups with some people going back to their original teams."
What do you think about your chances?
"We're geared up to make a run. Watch out for "Three the hard way."
Who are the big three?
" Terence Whiters, last years MVP, Eddie Basden, who is finishing up in Germany, and Calvin. We also have our loyalist, Andre Blatche, Roger Mason and Young Zo. We're gonna be tough."
What else is going on with the league?
"The league is on a roll. Street and Smith voted the Goodman the third best streetball league in the nation and Nike came in and gave us some sponsor support."
Who will we see come thru the gates this summer?
"I like to surprise people but I expect to see a sprinkle of NBA players such as Kenyon Martin, Michael Redd, & Vince Carter. Fat Joe will also be coming down sometime soon. I tell everybody to always check in because you don't know who may show up."
Look for the next article this Friday on Thursday's action and very soon an in depth bio on the 3rd Eye Entertainment organization.
