2008 High School: Emmanuel Yeager - The Leader Of The New School

Back in the 90's, there was a rap group entitled "The Leaders of the New School", which introduced the world to Busta Rhymes.  Emmanuel Yeager will be the leader of his new school when he suits up this fall for the Coolidge Colts.

DCMetrosports is hot on the recruiting trail of Yeager as he discusses his diary of experiences on the combine circuit in an effort to increase his exposure and talents to as many college coaches as possible.

I caught up with Emmanuel again last week and he updated me on his latest recruiting trip, offer, and new school.

So Emmanuel tell me what's been going on the last two-three weeks?

"I was invited out to the University of Louisville by coach Eric Lewis to show what I can do. It was a long 9 1/2 hour drive but it was worth it.  Coach Lewis asked me to come out there and I know he wouldn't have if he wasn't serious about offering me. "

How did the workout go?

"I worked out along with 40 other quarterbacks and I felt I outshined them all. I felt I did really well.  Everything worked out great.  They didn't officially offer me by the way."

Do you think you would like it there?

"Oh most definitely! I loved the Louisville metro area. Actually it was nicer than I expected.

What else is going on since school has let out?

"Right now we're competing in the passing leagues.  We played two games against DeMatha at Northwestern last week and won both games.  I threw two touchdowns against their first team and intercepted a pass. Darrel Person caught both of my TD's as we began to break their will.  Look out for Darrel, he's going to be a force this fall.  He's about 6'2", a big target, someone I can put my trust in.  Martez Darr is a rising junior that gives me another option on a potentially loaded offense.

How much love are the major recruiting services giving you?

"Rivals is ranking me #27 among quarterbacks but Mike Sorrell says my stock will rise as the season draws closer.  Right now they grade me as a 3 star.  I'll rank higher on Scouts as the season draws closer and if my performances at camps continue to turn out well.

So it's official, You're a Coolidge Colt correct?

"Yep, it's official. I feel comfortable with my decision and my former Ballou teammates are friends of mine from way back and they don't feel any animosity towards me at all.  The Coolidge coaches are hands on and I feel a bond with them already. They're knowledgable and great to work with."
