25 Caps prospects to take part in workouts, scrimmages
ARLINGTON, Va. – Twenty-five Washington Capitals prospects will participate in the team’s annual development camp from July 7-12 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. The camp, which features recent Capitals draft picks, select rookie players and other prospects, includes on- and off-ice workouts led by head coach Bruce Boudreau and his staff.
Among the confirmed participants are Capitals first-round draft picks John Carlson (2008), Karl Alzner (2007), Simeon Varlamov (2006) and Sasha Pokulok (2005). Eight participants, including Jay Beagle, Francois Bouchard, Andrew Gordon and Mathieu Perreault, played at least one game for the Capitals’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears, in 2007-08. Six 2008 draft picks, including Carlson, will be in attendance.
All development camp on-ice workouts, which will include multiple scrimmages, are open to the public. The off-ice workouts are closed to the public. Camp concludes with a scrimmage on Saturday, July 12, the centerpiece event of Caps Fan Fest at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Other activities that day include interactive games, music, free public skating, an equipment sale, autograph sessions and a question-and-answer session with chairman and majority owner Ted Leonsis .

Wednesday, July 9 Group A on ice at 10 a.m.; Group B on ice at 11:15 a.m.; scrimmage from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 10 Group B on ice at 10 a.m.; Group A on ice at 11:15 a.m.; scrimmage from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Friday, July 11 Group A on ice at 10 a.m.; Group B on ice at 11:45 a.m.
Saturday, July 12 Caps Fan Fest beginning at 10 a.m.
Scrimmage from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
