MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia Univeristy football player quotes following Tuesday afternoon's practice.

Jarrett Brown

On the new offensive option:
We haven’t added anything but we’re going to make them defend what we
do. We’re going to do what we do best and make them defend it.

On his running experience:
I have experience from running out of the pocket. I never played the
running back position but I don’t think there is a big difference.

On his new role:
It might be in the game plan in certain situations. I love my new role
and I think it’s an important one.

Scooter Berry

On Chris Neild:
Chris Neild is a very good player. I’m not trying to blow smoke up my
behind but I thought that I might get doubled team this year. There is
aggressive play in the middle and I like that.

On the defense:
We are coming together as a defensive unit. Nothing has really changed,
no player or personnel change, no different play calling. We are just
coming together as a team. We don’t like getting scored on. We are
practicing hard and we’re working on preparation.

Quinton Andrews

On opening BIG EAST play
We’re very excited and we get to prove ourselves over again. We get to
start over from scratch, even after losing two games. This is a new
beginning and we’re going to go out and make things happen.

Robert Sands
What his recent success has taught him:
It just told me that hard work actually does pays off. You go out there
and every day you wake up, watch 6 o’clock film, lift, run and all of
that, it shows you that hard work does pay off.

On what he’s improved on:
I see myself improving by being able to read the defense, knowing my
responsibility and knowing what my teammates should be doing. The mental
aspect of the college game is a big adjustment. Just being able to get
over the loud crowds was a challenge. I had to learn all the new
assignments because you are so familiar with your old defense. You have
to be able to pick up their defense on the field.

On secondary as a whole improving:
The reason for that is communication. We communicate a lot better. We
talk to each other before every play. We make sure everyone knows what
the play is, giving signals and we always make sure that we know what’s
coming. We do a lot of talking and I think that’s what has improved our
secondary.
