Mountaineers Fall to St. John’s

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Oct. 24, 2008)-  The West Virginia University volleyball team (6-15, 0-8 BIG EAST) fell to defending conference champions St. John’s (15-7, 6-1 BIG EAST) this evening at the WVU Coliseum.


The Red Storm defeated the Mountaineers in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-23) match.

 

Senior middle blocker Lisa Hough led the team with eight kills and a .471 hitting percentage, while freshman outside hitter Kylie Armbruster followed with seven kills and seven digs.

 

Freshman setter Kari Post landed her sixth double-double of the season with 18 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore Bonnie West led in digs with 14.

 

As a team, the Mountaineers posted 26 kills, 44 digs and five total team blocks.

 

The Mountaineers continue home action on Sunday, Oct. 26, with a 2 p.m. match against Connecticut . The first 70 fans to attend Sunday’s match will receive free t-shirts. Also, Mountaineer Maniacs will be able to earn attendance points.
