MILWAUKEE  (Oct. 24, 2008) – Senior Deana Everrett assisted on two goals in a 2-0 shutout against Marquette Friday evening at Valley Fields. The win gives 15th-ranked West Virginia its third-straight BIG EAST American Division title.

The Mountaineers
, 11-2-5 (6-1-3 BIG EAST) on the season, came out strong and took an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a goal from freshman Blake Miller. Miller’s goal, her team-leading eighth of the season and sixth in league play, came on a pass from Everrett.

The Mountaineers held a 10-3 advantage in shots after 45 minutes of play. Marquette, 9-6-3 (5-3-2 on the year), was limited to one shot on-goal in the first half.

West Virginia added a second goal late in the second half off the foot of redshirt freshman Erica Henderson. Everrett dished out her second assist of the match on Henderson’s fourth goal of the season.

WVU goalkeeper Kerri Butler was brilliant between the posts, making three stops on the night. The sophomore led West Virginia to its 11th shutout of the season, the ninth for Butler.

The Mountaineers have won BIG EAST division crowns four times: 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
