Georgetown Freshman DaJuan Summers Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll |

Washington, D.C. ─ Georgetown University freshman men’s basketball player DaJuan Summers (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced today. It is the first league honor for Summers, and the first for a Hoya men’s basketball player this season.
Summers helped lead Georgetown to a pair of wins last week, scoring a game-high 17 points in a 68-54 win at Rutgers last Wednesday and then adding 17 points in a 74-58 win at Seton Hall on Friday night. The Hoyas have won two-straight games, improving to 13-5 overall and 3-2 in BIG EAST Conference play. During the week, the 6-8, 241-pound forward, averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and connected on 68.8 percent of his shots from the field (11-of-16), including all four three-point attempts. In the game at Rutgers on Wednesday, Summers scored nine of his game-high 17 points during a run in the second half as the Hoyas took control en route to the 14-point win. He finished the game connecting on 5-of-7 shots from the field and 5-of-6 shots from the free throw line. Against Seton Hall on Friday, Summers scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. He hit 6-of-9 shots from the field, 3-of-4 from the free throw line and added three steals during the win. For the season, Summers is fifth on the team in scoring with 8.9 points per game and is contributing 2.8 rebounds per game. He is one of four starters shooting at least 50 percent from the field, connecting at a 50.5 percent clip (53-of-105). He is also third on the team in three-point field goals with 19, connecting on 36.5 percent of his shots from long distance. Summers has scored in double figures eight times this year, leading the team in scoring on seven occasions. He scored a career-high 18 points in a 69-41 win over Towson on December 20. In five conference games this season, Summers leads the team with 11.8 points per game and is fourth on the team with 3.8 rebounds per game. Georgetown returns home to Verizon Center on Wednesday, January 24, hosting DePaul in a BIG EAST Conference game.
