Washington, D.C. ─ Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly has announced that 30 student-athletes will join the Hoya program this fall for the 2007 season. The newcomers come from 13 different states, including six from New Jersey and five from Texas. There are also three players from Connecticut and Pennsylvania, two from Georgia and New York and one apiece from California, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin.
"We are extremely pleased with this year's incoming class," Kelly said. "It is a credit to the entire coaching staff and their hard work in bringing this class to fruition. Going into the recruiting period we had some distinct target areas and we have what we really think is going to be an exciting recruiting class."
The biographies on the members of the Class of 2011 include a long laundry list of all-conference, all-state and all-academic accolades. Of the 30 incoming student-athletes, Kelly and his staff project 15 to play on the offensive side of the ball, with 13 projected defensive players and two kickers.
"I truly feel that this class will provide depth and competition at every position," Kelly said. "The quality of this class is exciting not only for the coaching staff, but for Georgetown Football.”
In his first season at the helm of the Georgetown program, Kelly guided the Hoyas to a 2-9 overall record and an 0-6 mark in the Patriot League.
