Georgetown Men’s Basketball 2007 BIG EAST Tournament Championship Win to Appear on ESPNU |

Washington, D.C. Georgetown men’s basketball fans looking to relive the 2006-07 season, which culminated in a run to the Final Four, can watch ESPNU’s Cram Session, “Dog Days of Summer.”š Other schools included in this Cram Session are Butler, Drake, Fresno State, Loyola (Md.), Gonzaga, Mississippi State, Georgia, UConn, Washington, Southern Illinois and Albany. This particular Cram Session features schools that have dogs as their mascot.
ESPNU’s “Dog Days of Summer” will take place on Saturday, July 21. Georgetown will be featured during the afternoon when the Hoyas 2007 BIG EAST Tournament Championship win over Pittsburgh, a 65-42 decision, will be featured. The game is scheduled to air from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Blue and Gray had one of the best seasons in program history during the 2006-07 campaign, posting a 30-7 record, advancing to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament and winning both the BIG EAST Tournament title and the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. The Hoyas started and finished the 2006-07 season ranked among the top-10 teams in the country, earning the No. 4 ranking in the final ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll. Georgetown, ranked No. 7 in the final RPI Ratings, won the BIG EAST Regular Season title with a 13-3 record and then won three-straight game to capture the BIG EAST Tournament Championship before advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 1985. After a 4-3 start to the season, Georgetown rattled off seven-straight wins to improve to 11-3, highlighted by wins at Michigan and at home against Notre Dame in the conference opener. The team proceeded to win 11-straight games, all against BIG EAST Conference opponents, the first time since the 1984-85 season a Hoya squad had won that many in a row against conference foes. Jeff Green led the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game, and was second on the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and assists (3.2). One of the team's co-captains, he was named the BIG EAST's Most Valuable Player and followed that up by earning the BIG EAST Tournament's Most Outstanding Player award and then being named the outstanding player of the NCAA East Regional. He was joined up front by center Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep), who earned first-team All-BIG EAST honors and first-team District 4 honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, finished second on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game, and lead the team in rebounds (6.9 rpg) and blocked shots (2.4 bpg).š Guard Jonathan Wallace (Harvest, Ala./Sparkman) finished third on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game and was third on the team in assists with 3.1 per game. Wallace, who led the team with 73 three-point field goals, finished the season second all-time at Georgetown in three-point field goals (169) and 18th all-time in assists (290). The Hoyas led the BIG EAST in field goal percentage during the season, connecting on 50.5 percent of their field goals, and finished the season ranked No. 4 in the country in scoring defense, allowing only 58.0 points per game.
