Hoya Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III to Speak to University Students at Gaston Hall Wed.

    Washington, D.C.- Georgetown Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III will speak to University students on Wednesday night on-campus as the 2007-08 season draws closer.

    Thompson III will speak to University students in Gaston Hall, beginning at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Georgetown University Lecture Fund.   

   His talk will primarily be a question and answer session about the upcoming season, including Midnight Madness, which will be held on Friday night, October 12, at McDonough Arena.
 

     Thompson III, who was named the Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year last season, led Georgetown to one of the most thrilling seasons in its 100-year history during the 2006-07 campaign.š He led the Hoyas to a 30-7 overall record as the team reached the 2007 NCAA Final Four and won both the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
  

    Georgetown
University will officially kick off the start of the 2007-08 men’s and women’s basketball seasons at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 12 in McDonough Arena with its annual Midnight Madness celebrations.š A national audience will view in, as the ESPN networks will cover the event live.š College basketball personalities Bill Raftery and Lou Canellis will handle the on-side coverage.
 

     The event will begin with outdoor festivities in front of McDonough Arena before moving inside at approximately 8:45 p.m.š Outdoor activities will include a replay of the 2007 NCAA East Regional Final win over North Carolina, free burgers from the Georgetown University Grilling Society (GUGS), ESPNU give-away items, interactive games, AOL Rival Rants Station, EA Sports March Madness Basketball on Xbox 360, music by WPGC 95.5-FM and much, much more.š Students in attendance will receive official free Nike 2007 Georgetown Basketball t-shirts to commemorate the event.š The highlight of the evening festivities include player introductions for both the men’s and women’s teams and the unveiling of the 2007 Final Four Banner, as well as speeches from Thompson III and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy.š Also, for Hoya fans who are unable to attend the event, complete coverage of the festivities will air on ESPNU from 11 p.m. to midnight on Friday, October 12.
