22-year-old leaves United after one MLS season

Washington, D.C. (February 3, 2012) – D.C. United announced today that the club has waived forward Blake Brettschneider. The 22-year-old departs United after completing his rookie season with the team last year.

De Rosario, Pontius and Kitchen among stars assisting at the Washington Auto Show, Saturday, February 4th from 2:00-3:30 p.m.

 Washington, D.C. (January 30, 2012) – D.C. United and Volkswagen, the club’s presenting partner, today announced plans for D.C. United players to assist at the Volkswagen Ride and Drive Event on Saturday, February 4th at the 2012 Washington Auto Show. Dwayne De Rosario, the 2011 Volkswagen MLS MVP, Chris Pontius and Perry Kitchen will lead six other United players participating in the event by riding along as prospective car buyers test drive available 2012 Volkswagen Passats, the 2012 Motor Trend Car of the Year, a 2012 Jetta GLI, 2012 Beetle and a 2012 Tiguan. Player participation will last from 2:00-3:30 p.m.

U-16 Head Coach Roberto da Silva departs Academy

Washington, D.C. (January 24, 2012) – D.C. United announced today that 17 Academy players have been called-in to participate in a U.S. Soccer Training Center program. 10 players from the team’s U-18 program (born in 1994 or 1995) were invited, while seven players from the U-16 team (born in 1996 or 1997) were also tabbed to participate.

30-year old joins United from BSC Young Boys

Washington, D.C. (January 25, 2012) – D.C. United announced today the team has signed 30-year-old Emiliano Dudar. The 6-foot, 4-inch Argentine defender joins the Black-and-Red on a free transfer from BSC Young Boys of Switzerland. Per club and League policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dudar will be available for selection pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and visa.

United sends partial allocation to Houston for 21-year old midfielder

Washington, D.C. (January 20, 2012) – D.C. United announced today the team has acquired midfielder Danny Cruz from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for a partial allocation. The 21-year old is originally from Petersburg, Virginia and spent three seasons with the Dynamo.
