Team to Celebrate 15th Season in 2012

 Washington, D.C. –The 2012 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) schedule was released today by the league office. The Washington Mystics will tip off their 15th season by playing the first three contests of the season at home for the first time in franchise history. The Mystics will face the Chicago Sky on May 19 followed by games on May 26 against the Tulsa Shock and a visit from the defending WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx on May 30. To commemorate their 15th season, the Washington Mystics will unveil a series of initiatives throughout the year, including a new 15th anniversary logo.

“We are excited for the upcoming 2012 Washington Mystics season,” Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb stated. “The 2012 campaign marks our 15th anniversary and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with our fans through a series of special events and initiatives that will tip off in the first quarter of 2012, continue through opening day on May 19 and culminate with Fan Appreciation Night on September 21.”

 Washington’s annual camp day game for local children’s camps and groups will be held on Wednesday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m. against the Connecticut Sun. The team’s west coast swing will be the longest road trip of the season with stops at Los Angeles (June 18), Phoenix (June 20) and Seattle (June 24).  The Mystics will play 13 of their 17 regular season games on the weekend. All home games will tip off at 7:00 p.m. except for matchups against Phoenix on July 1, Chicago on August 19 and New York on Sept. 16 which will all have a 4:00 p.m. start.
