Monumental Sports & Entertainment Teams Collaborate to Spread Holiday Cheer

 WASHINGTON, D.C.-In honor of the holidays, Monumental Sports & Entertainment teams will collaborate and help share the spirit of the season in the Washington, D.C., area. Last month Washington Capitals players’ wives and girlfriends partnered with the wives of the Washington Wizards’ coaching staff on a holiday shopping spree for 20 families adopted through MSE’s Family-to-Family program. On Monday, Dec. 19, Caps players Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson, Mike Green, Brooks Laich and Joel Ward, Mystics player Monique Currie and Wizards players Jordan Crawford, Shelvin Mack, Hamady Ndiaye and John Wall will deliver the gifts to three families participating in the initiative. They will be joined by Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld, Wizards executive vice president Greg Bibb as well as team mascots G-Wiz and Slapshot, Wizard Girls and Red Rockers.

WASHINGTON, DC – Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has picked up contract options on four players and extended qualifying offers to four restricted free agents.

The Wizards have picked up the third-year options on the rookie contracts of Trevor Booker, Jordan Crawford, Kevin Seraphin and John Wall. In addition, the team has extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Othyus Jeffers, Hamady Ndiaye, Larry Owens and Nick Young.

Washington, DC –In celebration of Black History Month, Washington Wizards player Hilton Armstrong will host a reading timeout on Friday, February 11, from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm. The event will take place in the Wizards’ family room located on the event level of Verizon Center. Armstrong is scheduled to appear at 1:00 pm. The fourth grade class from Long Branch Elementary School from Arlington, VA, will read Nikki Grimes’ “ Barack Obama Son of Promise, Child of Hope.” The class was chosen following a contest where teachers were asked to describe why their class deserved a timeout with the Wizards.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Washington Wizards fans will have a chance to win an autographed John Wall jersey as well as other prizes at the new viewing parties hosted by the team in the metropolitan area. Wizards Girls and the team’s mascot GWiz will make scheduled appearances at various establishments in the upcoming weeks. Arlington Rooftop, Front Page, Grevey’s, Mister Day’s and Ramparts Tavern are among the places that will provide food and drink specials during the viewing parties.
